Parmis les activités que la Commission Européenne coordonnent, voici deux projets particulièrement intéressants pour les professionnels et les passionnés d'ouvrages anciens, notamment mais aussi d'art.

Luther's bible in electronic form, the Venus de Milo in a perfect 3D representation - accessible for researchers, students, museums or just everybody.

Two European research projects are making both possible and are featured in this FUTURIS-report.

Researchers from the Treventus project (IST Grand Prize Winner 2007) have developed a robotic book scanner that can not only scan 2.400 pages per hour, but it also scans even the oldest and most fragile documents without any risk of damaging them.

Another group of researchers from the EPOCH project has developed a 3D dome. Placed over pieces of art and other artefacts, it scans them in every detail and makes them available to virtually any institution or private person with a 3D -screen.
