Bien... hier Gianfilippo de la "Compagnia del Fiore d'Argento" m'a remis le dernier bout que j'avais commissionné à sa connaissance: l'étui et l'enclos à la langue de dragon pour mon épée, pendant que le bouclier et la peinture du casque sont oeuvres de Francesco, utilisateur du forum "Villaggio Medievale"....

...je terminer encore la lance et perfectionner la cuisson de tricot...

Well... Gianfilippo of the "Compagnia del Fiore d'Argento", gave me the last piece that I commissioned to his friend: the sheath and belt for my sword, while the shield and the painting of the italo-norman helmet with mask are the work of Francesco (member of the "Villaggio Medievale" forum)....

I must still complete the hauberk, camail and spear...

A me risulta che vennero impiegati scudi a mandorla con umbone per tutto l'XI e XII secolo e anche oltre (ho domandato consiglio anche a rievocatori francesi che organizzano la battaglia di Malemort nel 1177)... soprattutto i cavalieri ospitalieri tendevano nel riciclare l'equipaggiamento più obsoleto (se ancora valido).

Are you sure? I was sure than the kite shields with boss were still available for all the XI and XII centuries and also over (I also asked suggestion to French reenactors than organizes the battle of Malemort in the 1177)... besides the Knight Hospitallers used sometimes old style equipment too (if it was still good and not obsolete, of course).

Tempo fa feci una ricerca circa la fattibilità di una rievocazione storica degli "Statuti marittimi della città di Trani" del 1063. La difficoltà oggettiva è l'irreperibilità di informazioni circa l'araldica attinente alla Trani anno 1063.
Ebbene trani nel 1063 era sotto assedio normanno da parte del Conte Pietro comandante dell'esercito di Roberto il Guiscardo.
ebbene facendo riferimento all'arazzo di bayeux esposi il problema araldico sul forum IAGI. Mi fu detto da più parte di rinunciare alla cosa poichè a quel tempo l'araldica non esisteva e che per l'appunto gli umboni erano entrati in disuso.
A chi credere? certo è che pietro da eboli riporta chiaramente

Comunque quando finisci il diavolo nero mi devi fornire le informazioni per realizzarne uno uguale (costi, indirizzi, artigiani, etc.).
Quando realizzi le bandiere se gentilmente mi fornisci le misure.
Decisamente non riesco a districarmi con la vessilologia medioevale. Troppo vaga.

I saraceni chiamavano "diavoli neri" gli Hospitalieri.
il diavolo nero è "il personaggio".

Indubbiamente il capitello è eloquente ma manca un riferimento preciso ad una data. Lo scalpellino può anche essersi ispirato a modelli precedenti.
Appare comunque chiara una cosa: tenendo presente l'arazzo di bayeaux e il capitello di monreale, negli anni 1070's si è iniziati a passare da uno scudo con capo circolare ad uno triangolare e che tale passaggio durava ancora agli inizi del 1200 vista la descrizione fatta da pietro da eboli della consegna di dell'imperatore federico II da parte dell'imperatrice costanza.
